So if you have not finished the latest Harry Potter please do not read any farther as most likly there will be spoilers and I do not feel like doing a lj cut so there.
I am currently at odd with the soul of Snape at the moment. It is really so confusing because JK continues to say that he is good and writes to the contrary. R.J.Anderson made a prediction just a few days ago that Snape would kill Dumbledore in this fashion, and she's got the right of it, IMO. This was an eventuality they'd planned for. No matter what, Dumbledore was going to die on that tower. Snape had to do it so he can be Voldemort's golden boy, no matter what whispers there were against him. Harry's not going to believe that even when he DOES hear the truth, and Snape's going to die a great hero's death in the end, saving Harry so he can make the last blow against Voldemort. Maybe destroying the last Horcrux at just the right moment.
I thought the book did not even progress until at least page 350. The action did not pick up until 581. Could this book have been shorter....YES! OMG there was nothing going on forever. I really feel like she could have thrown us a bone. The book yet again could have been much shorter. She really disappoints me in the beginnings of her books. If this had been her first book I might not have continued. Who continues to read a book to 300 if nothing is going on??
I feel as though Harry's leadership role in Quidditch was seriously overlooked. A wonderful way for us to get some action would have been to give us more than one game. I mean there was serious snogging but dude...it is not like I am seeing the kissing.
The scene in the Dursley's house was priceless and I shall remember it forawhile. I agree with a lj friend that the best line was "Sadly, accidental rudeness occurs all too often." Dumbledore was at his most...Dumbledorey in this book. It was wonderful to see. I was near tears in the end at the death of Dumbledore. He was such a wonderful character and almost like a rock and the funeral was amazing with all the people who came.
Harry grew up a lot in this book I must admit...he was extremely mature (as much as a 16 year old can be) and took many difficulties in stride. I agree with Harry and also pity Malfoy who I think without Voldie would not even consider murdering anyone. That is what intriuges me most I think that like Hitler, Voldie brings out this feeling in people that woudl normally not commit these atrocities. I mean granted they would be bullies but they would not go to the extremes that Voldie has them go to.
The fighting between R & H got really old very quickly. I felt like they were back in year 3 and that is even mentioned. I mean come on we see Harry grown up so much and his friends are acting like they are 2. The Ginny relationship was lovely and she really is perfect for Harry.
I woudl have liked to see Harry go to Grimwald Place and deal with Sirius' death. I do wonder if McGonagoll will remain head of Hogwarts though Harry will not be going there of course. Hermione really grew up at the end....she finally is starting to realize that there are things more important that school(I know amazingly I know this) and she will not be returning to Hogwarts which surprised me. It is interesting that all three of them will follow in the lead of Fred and George.
Well I guess that is all I have to say for now......
Ya so it was alright...not as bad as 5 but definately just a filler book. Also I would like to add the fact that not one of my questions was answered in the entire book. I am highly disappointed in that fact!
